Spotlight: First Annual Law Firm Cook-Off a Success

First Annual Law Firm Cook-Off a Success

On December 10, 2004, law firms showed off their cooking ability at the First Annual Bank of America Plaza Law Firm Cook-Off.  Conceived by Jim Cowles as a way to spark a little friendly competition among law firms, the event also raised funds for charity.  Law firms were invited to submit entries in four categories:  Appetizer, Main Course, Side Dish, and Dessert.  The entries were judged by four distinguished justices of the Dallas Court of Appeals, who endured (and enjoyed) the daunting task of sampling 33 dishes.  Eleven law firms participated in the Cook-Off.

In addition, the law firms were invited to submit recipes for the official Cook-Off cookbook, which was printed and bound free of charge by Pinnacle Reprographics.  The proceeds from the sale of the cookbooks were donated to Jonathan's Place, a non-profit organization that provides emergency residential care to abused, abandoned, and neglected children.  To date, cookbook sales and donations total $3,425.00.  Cookbooks may be ordered by sending an e-mail to info@cowlesthompson.com.

Congratulations are also in order for Marlene Dunham, C&T employee and the winner of the Main Course award, for her delicious Spinach Lasagna recipe.
