John M. Hill is a senior shareholder and head of the Municipal, Public Law & Land Use Practice Group of Cowles & Thompson. Mr. Hill's practice is devoted to public law matters, including public utility franchise and rate matters, zoning and subdivision of land, claims by and against cities, the drafting of ordinances, resolutions and contracts, development agreements, and real estate development and leasing.

Mr. Hill is a member of the State Bar of Texas and the Texas City Attorneys Association. He is on the Board of Directors of Senior Adult Services for Addison, Carrollton, Coppell and Farmers Branch, a Texas non-profit corporation serving the needs of senior adults
Mr. Hill received his B.A. degree, cum laude, in 1978 from Washington & Lee University, where he was a member of Omicron Delta Epsilon, the international collegiate economics honor society. Mr. Hill received his J.D. degree in 1983 from Southern Methodist University. He was admitted to the State Bar of Texas in 1983, and is admitted to practice in the United States Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas.
Mr. Hill has performed work for numerous governmental entities in the Metroplex area. He currently serves as the City Attorney for the Town of Addison.
In October 2001, Mr. Hill spoke on "Agreements with Design Professionals" at the Cowles & Thompson Continuing Education Seminar.
