Kenneth J. Mighell is of counsel to Cowles & Thompson. His practice involves representing a wide variety of clients in the areas of general litigation and products liability. He is also a certified Mediator. Mr. Mighell's vast experience includes serving in the United States Navy, 1952-1954 and as a Captain in the United States Naval Reserve, 1954-1980; Assistant United States Attorney, 1961-1977; and United States Attorney for the Northern District of Texas, 1977-1981.

He is a member of the State Bar of Texas, Dallas Bar Association, Dallas and Texas Associations of Defense Counsel, Federal Bar Association, Center for American and International Law, and Association of Attorney-Mediators. Mr. Mighell has devoted a significant amount of time to the Dallas Bar Association in the following capacities: Board of Directors, 1981-1989; Vice Chair, 1988; Chair, 1989; Vice President, 1990-1991; President-Elect, 1992 and President, 1993. He is a past Chair of the Dallas Bar Foundation and is presently on the Advisory Board of the Institute for Law Enforcement Administration. He is also active in the community and has served as past President, Board of Directors, for the American Lung Association and past Chairman, Board of Management, for the Downtown Dallas YMCA and is currently a member of the Board of Directors of the Dallas Metropolitan YMCA. Additionally, he has lectured on "Jury Selection" at the Federal Bar Seminar from 1985-1988.
Mr. Mighell received his B.B.A. degree in 1952 from the University of Texas and his J.D. degree in 1957 from the University of Texas School of Law. He was admitted to the State Bar of Texas in 1957 and is admitted to practice in the United States District Courts for the Northern and Eastern Districts of Texas, the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court.
