John M. Pease is a shareholder in the Negligence & Torts Practice Group of Cowles & Thompson, and is the head of the firm's Transportation and Trucking Litigation Group. He began his legal practice at Cowles & Thompson, and for the past twenty years he has provided representation to clients in products liability, premises liability, aviation and other personal injury matters, as well as commercial litigation matters.

Mr. Pease has represented both national and Texas-based corporations and other entities in the state and federal courts of Texas. He has tried cases in counties throughout the State, including Dallas, Tarrant, Harris, Bexar, Travis, El Paso, Wichita, Jefferson, Freestone, Henderson, and Madison Counties. He also has extensive experience in the Federal courts of Texas. Mr. Pease has major claim trial experience, representing insurance companies, aviation manufacturers, transportation and trucking companies, and gasoline retailers, among others.
Mr. Pease has been recognized as a Barrister in The Patrick E. Higginbotham American Inn of Court. He is a member of the State Bar of Texas, American Bar Association, Dallas Bar Association, Dallas Association of Defense Counsel, and Transportation Industry Defense Association. Additionally, he was nominated for and selected to become a member of the International Association of Defense Counsel. Mr. Pease has served on the Texas Editorial Board for Lawyer's Cooperative Publishing and has provided pro bono representation through Legal Services of North Texas.
Mr. Pease has written and lectured attorneys and clients on various subjects, including transportation industry defense, effective advocacy at hearings, written discovery, premises liability, preparation of settlement documentation and the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act.
Mr. Pease received his B.A. degree with honors in 1983 and his J.D. degree in 1986 from the University of Texas, where he served on the Board of Advocates. He was admitted to the State Bar of Texas in 1986 and is admitted to practice in the United States District Courts in all Districts of Texas and in the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. He has been recognized as a "Texas Super Lawyer" by the publishers of Texas Monthly and Law & Politics Magazine for the past three years.
