Kyna Adams is a Shareholder in the Tyler office of Cowles & Thompson. Her practice areas include personal injury, premises liability, hospital and nursing home litigation, medical malpractice, legal malpractice, commercial litigation, and family law. Ms. Adams has represented several health care facilities in over 150 cases throughout Texas involving issues such as medical negligence, slip and falls, contractual disputes, and regulatory compliance. In addition, she is currently a member of the litigation team that defends a large international retailer throughout North Texas in all areas of premises litigation, including slip and falls and falling merchandise, as well as multiple other areas.
Ms. Adams also has extensive experience in commercial law and has represented multiple clients in a broad range of business disputes. These include breach of contract actions, real estate disputes, corporate derivative actions, shareholder lawsuits, buy-outs, and receiverships.
Ms. Adams is also a certified attorney ad litem for the State of Texas.
Kyna is a member of the State Bar of Texas, the American Bar Association, the Smith County Bar Association, and the Texas Association of Defense Counsel. Ms. Adams is highly involved in the Smith County Bar Association, and currently serves that Association in a number of positions, including as a Board of Director, a Co-Chair of the Women's Section, and the Chair of the Membership Committee.
Ms. Adams received her B.A.. degree, summa cum laude, in 2000 from Hardin Simmons University, and her J.D. degree, magna cum laude, in 2003 from Oklahoma City University School of Law, where she was a member of Phi Alpha Delta legal fraternity.
