Melinda Newman is a Senior Associate in the Commercial Litigation, Family Law, and Appellate groups of Cowles & Thompson. Her practice areas include general commercial litigation, construction, appellate, real estate litigation, and family law. Ms. Newman also has experience representing insurers in fidelity and surety insurance coverage matters.
Ms. Newman is a member of the State Bar of Texas, Dallas Bar Association, J.L. Turner Legal Association, Lawyers against Domestic Violence Committee, and the Dallas Volunteer Attorney Program.
Ms. Newman received her B.B.A in Accounting from Texas A&M University in College Station in 2002, and her J.D. from SMU Dedman School of Law in 2005. Melinda was admitted to the State Bar of Texas in 2005.
Ms. Newman lives in DeSoto, Texas with her husband, Walter, and their son Bradley. She is an active member of the Concord Church, and in her spare time she enjoys traveling, watching college football and professional basketball, boating and chasing around her toddler.
