Congrats to 2013 Texas Super Lawyers - Rising Stars
March 2013
C&T is pleased to announce that six lawyers have been selected for inclusion in the 2013 Texas Rising Star list by Law & Politics Magazine, which is published in Texas Monthly and Texas Super Lawyers Rising Stars Edition Magazines. Less than 2.5 percent of all Texas attorneys are named to the Rising Stars list each year.
Kyna Adams -- is a Shareholder in the Tyler office of C&T. Her practice areas include personal injury, premises liability, hospital and nursing home litigation, medical malpractice, legal malpractice, commercial litigation, and family law. This is Kyna's third time to be listed as a Texas Rising Star in the Civil Litigation Defense practice area.
Jacquelyn Clark -- is an Senior Associate in the Dallas office of C&T. Her practice consists primarily of general insurance defense litigation, transportation defense litigation, products and premises liability defense, healthcare and commercial litigation. This is Jacquelyn's second time to be listed as a Texas Rising Star in the General Litigation practice area.
Mark Hill -- is a Shareholder in the Litigation Section of C&T. Mark is a member of the Dallas Bar Association, Collin County Bar Association, Plano Bar Association, and Collin County Young Lawyers Association. Mark is active in the business litigation sections of the Dallas Bar Association and Collin County Bar Association, and is currently chair of the business litigation section of the Collin County Bar Association. This is Mark's third time to be listed as a Texas Rising Star in the Business Litigation practice area.
David Johnson -- is a Shareholder in the Tort & Insurance and Commercial Litigation Sections of C&T. David's practice areas include product liability defense, premises liability litigation, labor and employment litigation, healthcare litigation, and commercial and complex business litigation. This is David's sixth time to be listed as a Texas Rising Star in the Personal Injury Defense: General practice area.
Lesley Lewis -- is an Associate in the Tort & Insurance Litigation section of Cowles & Thompson, with her practice focusing on general litigation, including business and commercial litigation, labor and employment matters, tort litigation, and products liability defense. This is Lesley's first time to be listed as a Texas Rising Star in the General Litigation practice area.
Jason Mathis -- is a Senior Attorney in the Commercial Litigation and Municipal and Public Law sections of C&T. Jason’s practice areas include contract disputes, premises liability, complex litigation, labor and employment law, and municipal and public law. This is Jason's fifth time to be listed as a Texas Rising Star in the Government/Cities/Municipalities practice area.

Three C&T Attorneys honored as Fellows of the Texas Bar Foundation
November 2011
Each year, the top 1/3 of 1 percent of the Texas attorneys are invited to become Fellows of the Texas Bar Foundation. Election to the Fellows is one of the highest honors that can be bestowed upon a member of the State Bar of Texas. Nomination is based on outstanding contributions to the legal profession, as well as commitment to the community. District Nominating Committees in the 17 State Bar of Texas districts identify this elite class of nominees. Once nominees are selected, each nominee must be elected by the Texas Board of Foundation Board of Trustees.

On Monday, June 6, 2011, the Dallas Black Chamber of Commerce hosted its 22nd Annual "DBCC" Open Golf Tournament at Thorntree Golf Country Club in DeSoto, Texas. Cowles & Thompson, P.C. sponsored the 6th Hole. Associates Jason Mathis and Clifford Nkeyasen played in the golf tournament. The tournament is well-attended by many leaders in the business community, entrepreneurs, and business owners. It was Cowles & Thompson's eight consecutive year to serve as a sponsor of the event.
