  • Three C&T Attorneys honored as Fellows of the Texas Bar Foundation

    Each year, the top 1/3 of 1 percent of the Texas attorneys are invited to become Fellows of the Texas Bar Foundation.  Election to the Fellows is one of the highest honors that can be bestowed upon a member of the State Bar of Texas.  Nomination is based on outstanding contributions to the legal profession, as well as commitment to the community.  District Nominating Committees in the 17 State Bar of Texas districts identify this elite class of nominees.  Once nominees are selected, each nominee must be elected by the Texas Board of Foundation Board of Trustees.     On Monday, June 6, 2011, the Dallas Black Chamber of Commerce hosted its 22nd Annual "DBCC" Open Golf Tournament at Thorntree Golf Country Club in DeSoto, Texas.  Cowles & Thompson, P.C. sponsored the 6th Hole.  Associates Jason Mathis and Clifford Nkeyasen played in the golf tournament.  The tournament is well-attended by many leaders in the business community, entrepreneurs, and business owners.  It was Cowles & Thompson's eight consecutive year to serve as a sponsor of the event.

    January 2011
    January 2011:  Bill Siegel served on the Slant 45 Committee which designed and implemented the service learning initiative by the Super Bowl Host Committee.   This initiative involved servicing learning projects undertaken by kids in North Texas.  Close to 45,000 kids took part involving over 450,000 hours of service learning.  Some of these service learning projects were documented in the critically acclaimed documentary called "Slant 45 the Movie" and as reflected in numerous art exhibits consisting of collages of each participant which are being shown throughout the Dallas Ft. Worth area and Austin.

    Mark Senter pitches in at the groundbreaking of his client’s $22 million dollar project in Carrollton, TX.   The 183 unit project known as The Villas at Raiford will consist of five single-story buildings and one three-story building with a 7,000 square foot Community/Leasing Office/Fitness Center. The clubhouse will contain: commissary, fitness center, beauty salon, social meeting room, health center, media room, commercial kitchen, activity center, business center, banking center and social services center.  A walking trail which circulates throughout the development will be provided for pedestrians. Senter has joined the firm as a Shareholder.  Mr. Senter's practice focuses on providing business advice to business owners, partnerships and corporations.  His practice also includes commercial and construction litigation. In commercial litigation, Mr. Senter has represented and successfully tried disputes involving dissolution of partnerships and corporations, RICO, DTPA and fraud.  In construction litigation, he has represented sureties, developers, general contractors on payment and performance bond disputes, and various telecommunication entities on zoning regulation and cell tower permitting and placement. Mr. Senter has represented clients throughout the United States, Germany, Mexico and Dubai, U.A.E. Mr. Senter is licensed in both Texas and Louisiana and has served on the Board of Directors for the New Orleans Hospice Foundation.

    Since 1998, Cowles & Thompson has participated the Dallas Bar Association's Summer Law Intern Program.  An article published in the Dallas Morning News honors Cowles & Thompson for our participation in this outstanding program. During the Summer of 2010,  29 law firms and 31 students from the  Dallas Independent School District are participating in the Dallas Bar Association's Summer Law Intern Program, which since 1994 has placed nearly 500 exceptional teenagers in law firms, nonprofits and corporate legal departments for eight weeks during the summer.
