Dallas, TX (October 12, 2020) — Cowles Thompson is pleased to announce the recent elevation of attorney Claire E. James to Shareholder status. Claire has built a strong career across two main areas: Commercial Litigation and Family Law.
Claire James – In her commercial litigation practice, Claire focuses on representing small businesses and their owners. She regularly represents clients in disputes involving business dissolutions, breach of contract actions, collection matters, landlord-tenant issues, and construction litigation. She also has experience representing clients in arbitration – having defended multiple businesses in complex contract arbitrations.
Almost fifty-percent of Claire’s practice is devoted to family law, including divorce, division of property, child custody, child support, and post-divorce modification as well as enforcement and contempt actions, and issues related to same-sex marriage and relationship dissolution. She is a former Child Protective Services worker – which lends to her ability to handle cases that involve child safety issues, family violence, and other disputed custody matters. Claire was recently named to the Best Lawyers in America® 2021 list of “Ones to Watch.”
