Cowles Thompson is pleased to welcome back to the firm Scott R. Meyer.  Scott is Of Counsel, and his primary areas of practice include Commercial Litigation, Corporate and Business Law, and Bankruptcy and Creditors’ Rights.

Previously, Scott spent six years at Cowles Thompson, including a summer clerkship, during which time he sharpened his legal skills and obtained invaluable mentoring from seasoned attorneys, including Firm co-founder Jim Cowles.  Scott explains, “I am grateful for the opportunity to have started my legal career working and learning alongside Jim Cowles and the dedicated attorneys of Cowles & Thompson whose focus on client commitment, ethical practice, and steadfast dedication to the rule of law have always been second to none.”

For almost twenty years, Scott has managed a wide array of civil litigation matters in state, federal, and bankruptcy courts. His depth of experience includes: commercial litigation, construction and real estate disputes and litigation, banking and creditor representation, general business and contract disputes and related litigation, business owner and partnership disputes, employment litigation, probate litigation, transportation and trucking litigation, non-competition, non-solicitation, and trade secret litigation, and litigation involving extra-contractual claims, including DTPA, fraud, and tortious interference.

Scott graduated magna cum laude from Texas Tech University School of Law. While attending law school, he also earned a Master of Business Administration degree from the Rawls College of Business at Texas Tech. Scott received his Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Finance from the McCombs School of Business at The University of Texas at Austin.
