Dallas, TX (January 14, 2020) — Cowles & Thompson, P.C. is proud to announce the election of three new Shareholders.  Michelle Alonzo, Christopher Littell, and Benjamin Tenenholtz assumed their new roles effective January 1, 2020.  Managing Shareholder, David Metzler said, “Since its founding Cowles Thompson has elected shareholders who represent the very highest standards of legal ability and professionalism, whom we are proud of, and whom we commit ourselves to work with for their continued professional growth.  We are pleased to congratulate Michelle, Chris, and Ben for their achievements and for continued success as part of the Cowles Thompson family.”

Michelle Alonzo

Michelle Alonzo is a Shareholder in the Immigration practice and focuses on employment-based immigration matters.  She began her legal career in 2007 representing families and individuals before transitioning into corporate immigration matters in 2010.  Finding solutions and strategies through the myriad of this complex body of law drives her to advocate tirelessly for her clients — whether she is assisting aspiring entrepreneurs, world-renowned athletes, or a family seeking asylum from political persecution.

Active in the legal community and public service, Michelle is Vice Chair of the Immigration Law Section of the Dallas Bar Association and is a regular speaker on immigration-related topics.  D Magazine named her to the 2019 list of “Best Lawyers in Dallas,” and she was part of the inaugural class of the Dallas Bar Association’s “We Lead” initiative.  She also provides pro bono services and advising as part of events like the annual Plano Citizenship Day.

Christopher Littell

Chris Littell has built a civil and commercial litigation practice, including a variety of complex matters involving multiple parties.  He also has experience with litigation related to the aviation industry and construction contracts.  Chris primarily concentrates on personal injury defense, commercial litigation, insurance defense, as well as structured settlement annuity markets.  He has obtained several successful defense judgments and summary judgments.

Chris graduated cum laude from Baylor Law School where he was an Executive Editor of the law review.  He was recently published in the newsletters of the Texas Young Lawyers Association and Dallas Association of Young Lawyers for his article, “Attacking and Precluding Expert Opinions in Texas After Daubert.”

Benjamin Tenenholtz

Ben Tenenholtz is a trial attorney who helps clients solve complex business disputes.  Ben has a collaborative and solution-oriented approach to his practice that enables him to obtain results tailored to his clients’ individual needs and challenges.  He believes each client is unique and deserves a skilled communicator to achieve their litigation and transactional business goals. Ben also prides himself on being a resource for his clients, many of whom are business owners and executives in need of pragmatic and actionable advice.  He has extensive experience in litigation and transactional work concerning Commercial/Business, Construction, Employment, and Real Estate law.

Recently, Ben successfully defended and obtained a settlement in favor of a construction materials supplier that was sued for fraud, negligence, and violations of the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act.  He also successfully negotiated a seven-figure stock buy-out and separation agreement for a company’s controller/director, and assisted a professional staffing services company in obtaining licensure from the Texas Department of Insurance as an adjuster entity. Ben has been named by Thomson Reuters® Super Lawyers® to their list of Rising Stars, 2018 through 2020.  He was also named to the 2020 list of “40 Under 40” by D Magazine.  Ben regularly delivers educational presentations, most recently on legislative changes affecting Texas contractors as well as litigants seeking/challenging Anti-Slapp protection.
